The meeting point will be at the main entrance of the Amara train station (Euskotren), Plaza Easo 9, at 8:30 a.m. Your guide will be waiting for you to board the train which will take you to the town of Zarautz, famous for its long beach and surfing. After a short tour of the town, you will start hiking the first 500 meters along an old and steep Roman Road. The rest of the way will pass between watchtowers, former viewpoints for the capture of the whale, farms and vineyards of txakoli, of the grape variety “hondarribi zuri,” which seem to reach the ocean. You will discover a mountainous and coastal landscape difficult to improve. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to visit a Txakoli winery, where they produce their most appreciated white wine with Denomination of Origen “Txakoli de Getaria” & “Getariako Txakolina.” To end up, you will walk around the narrow streets of the small, medieval town of Getaria, the birthplace of illustrious persons such as the navigator Juan Sebastian Elkano and the designer Cristóbal Balenciaga.
